MAY Winner: TOYZ
Music Go Round® is proud to introduce the May B.O.M., Toyz. Back in 1988, Toyz was formed in Burlington, NC influenced by the heavy rock sounds of the 80's. Our musical roots were from the classic sounds of 70's era rock superbands like Led Zeppelin, Aerosmith, Rolling Stones, AC/DC and others as we hit the club scene with a vengeance.
In 1989 Toyz played 90 shows and continued to build a loyal following in the southeastern US. CMC International took an interested in the band when Toyz began to get airplay on NC's rock radio station G 105.
At the time the band was known for it very tight sound, precise vocal harmonies and its spectactular light show.
"Just as things were starting to happen for us the Seattle sound hit and we were not willing to change what we believed in musically just to follow the next trend in music" says Jim Frissell. We continued to play music we believed in and continued to tour over the next 12 years.
Toyz has a very loyal fan base in the east and after touring the US with the Easyriders Custom Bike Show tour as Easyriders exclusive tour band in 2006 and 8 shows at "The Broken Spoke" in Sturgis SD at the worlds largest bike rally in 07 and 08, the band has many new fans all over the US.
The band is currently writing material for a record to be released in 2009.
Over the years we have shared the stage with many national acts such as Tesla, Ratt, Firehouse, Foghat, Mother's Finest, Saliva, Molley Hatchet, David Lee Roth, The Outlaws, Blackfoot, The Kentucky Head Hunters, The Marshall Tucker Band, The Georgia Satellites, Jackyl and more over the last 20 years.
It's been a long and winding road over the past 20 years and the band has honed its musical skills playing original music and tribute-like performances of some of today's most popular classic rock bands like Guns N' Roses, AC/DC, Aerosmith, Tesla and more, Satisfying audiences around the US. ..
Toyz will continue to tour in 09 playing Easyriders shows and bike rallies nationwide.
